What do you think he would place if he was in a show?

Not at the national convention. Anywhere else, it will depend on the other entries.
I think YOU need to do some research and the convention, since it is close, is an excellent place to do that. You can print out your pics and bring them with you and I'm sure a Judge might be happy to tell you why so you can maybe figure out how to pick a good quality show rabbit.

This would be a broken and he is not a good broken from what I can see. Do you have any comment cards from when he was shown before? You need to look at those and see what past judges have said about him. Its to hard to really tel much from a photo, so get the comment cards and see what you are really dealing with. Also look at the pedigree. You have to have a 4 gen pedigree to really have anything and make sure there are weights and so on on the pedigree.. Pedigree does NOT mean your rabbit is pure bred or registered, your rabbit has to be inspected to be registered. See www.pet-rabbit.netfirms.com then go to about buying rabbits for more into on buying show rabbits.

One what? One year?

I was assuming he was younger, somewhere around 8 weeks old. If he's a year old, judging from that picture alone, the owner should be ashamed of themselves for trying to sell that buck to you as a show rabbit.

Do you know anything about his pedigree? ANYTHING about the breeder?

They seem pretty well suited to rabbit kabob and not much else, IMO.

What's wrong with selling a buck that's a year old as a show rabbit? He still has a lot of show potential in him...
