Crockpot Chicken with Sweet Potatoes and Apples (PICS)

Here is my family's favorite, and trust me they have no idea what's in it:

1 whole chicken or chicken pieces
sliced mushrooms
1 garlic clove
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup

throw it in and cook on high 8-10 hours (even 12 is fine), pick the bones out and call em to dinner. throw in some rice if you want. YUM.

crockpot chicken recipe:

1 chicken cut into quarters
2 tsp turmeric
2 tsp paprika
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp garlic powder
Pepper/salt
Olive oil to coat pan
2 large onions ¼ or 3 small
5 or 6 chop garlic.
1/2 cup of wine

In a bowl, combine about 2 tsp each of turmeric, paprika, cumin, garlic powder. Sprinkle pepper/salt on each piece of chicken.

Rub the spice mixture on both sides of each piece of Chicken. Brown the chicken on both sides in olive oil. . Also, may need to add more oil as you brown the chicken. As each piece browns, remove it to another bowl. While browning, slice two large onions and chop garlic. After all of the chicken is browned, add the onions and garlic to the pan and sauté until wilted.

Layer the chicken and onions in the crock-pot. Add about 1/2 cup of wine to the skillet to de-glaze the pan. After all the little bits come off the bottom, pour the liquid into the crock-pot.

Cook on high for about 3 to 4 hours then turn down to low.
Serve over rice or Cous-Cous.

Cook in on low and you'll be fine all day. I work 12 hours and I use the crock pot for the whole time. Meat will be completely falling off the bone.

That sounds soooo yummy. My family loves sweet potatos and I cook whole chicken all the time in crock....

I have a fresh herb garden and just snip off some basil, rosemary, thyme.... crush up several cloves of garlic (family loves garlic)...

chop the herbs up real fine and combine with 2tbs of soft butter and then pull the skin up a little and stuff the butter mixture in...add a big onion to the inside of the bird and some left over herbs and garlic sprinkle with sea salt and pepper
Pour a couple of cans of chicken stock over the bird, add in any veggie like carrots and off I go... When I come home I usually add a bit of barley to the crock while I strain out the skin and bones of the chicken.... Instant chicken soup/stew....

I've been know to remove all the chicken and serve that with rice and a veggie and use the "juice" by using one of those hand wands and whirring away then instant stock to start a new one or use for soup...
