One of my hens developed a crooked bottom jaw. It has become very difficult for her to get anything down her throat and consequently she is not growing very well. Is there anything to be done or should I just put her down?

Thanks

Aww, that's a bummer. If it's really severe, then I believe putting her down is the right thing to do, especially if she's looking super thin. Now, you can give her a special food dish that is very deep, so that she can "scoop" the food up into her mouth, and really cater to her as far as making sure she eats, but alot of folks don't have the time to do that. Sometimes you can trim the beak just a little bit on the ends to make things more workable for her.

This is actually caused by a skull deformity, and worstens with age. Good luck to you, whatever you decide,

Sharon
