Crooked beak

Will she be okay with her beak so messed up? Will she be able to eat?

I don't think she's going to do too well as bad as her beak looks. It's your choice if you want to maybe try feeding her out of a deep dish to make it easier to scoop food out.

I had an Easter Egger that had crook beak. We could not bare to cull her so we let her go. We just kept the food dish full so that the food was deep and the water too. She was our friendliest chicken and absolutely loved attention. She was my 1 year olds favorite bird. Sadly she passed away at about 6 months of age. She was spoiled rotten until the day she passed. I have read, on here, that some people have chickens like this and they live quite a long time and actually even lay. I hope your little one does well!!

I would cull her. I had a severley cross beaked easter egger that looked very much like yours. We watched her suffer trying to get enough to eat. She finally was eating all day and not able to keep full. We culled her. She was so skinny. I was devastated that I had let a chicken suffer so long. (I think she was about 10 weeks old) She was skin and bones. I will never, ever do that again. I still feel guilty about it.

Sadly I think I knew the answer to my question when I posted it. I was hoping for better news. She is 3 weeks old and her beak is getting worse. She does seam to be growing at the same rate as the other 5 chicks but I do not want her to suffer.

We have a 24 week old chicken that has a similar type of beak. She seems to be doing fine. She is growing, and she just layed her first egg. We don't do anything special to help her eat. She is also our friendliest chicken and seems to love the kids.
