I recently hatch a few chicks. approx 25% had some degree of crocked toes. I called the breeder and she said she did not have crooked toes in her line. She said it was incubation problems.

I have hatched some other groups not related to this most current hatch and have not had any problem with crooked toes. I am using the same settings/methods. I have digital humidity and temp.

So... my question is ... If the crooked toes are due to incubation problems is it humidity too high... humidity too low.... temp too high....temp to low??
I have tried to research but only find vague info... nothing specific.

Can anyone help me?
thank you

Humidy to low, Chick in egg to long.
Just tape them it will be fine as long as you catch them quick enough.

Thanks for the info, PQ and Silkie,
I will watch this more closely. I am doing humidity by digital setting modified by weighing eggs every 3 - 4 days and adjusting humidity up or down one or two percent if necessary. Looking for a 13 - 15 % weight decrease by hatch.

I am pretty new at this so I really do appreciate your thoughts and advice
