Crop stasis (sp)?

Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between crop stasis and a foreign body lodged in throat?

smell their breath. crop stasis or sour crop is basically food in their crop that is fermenting. in the morning is her crop full or empty if it is still full it could be sour crop. or you can smell her breath if it smells kinda like sour milk or something similar that is probably what is is.
what do you mean by foriegn body? a small toy, food she wasn't supposed to eat? again in the morning check her crop if she ate a toy it probably wont digest as fast and will still be there. the only way i can think of to get it out would be making her throw up and hope it comes out. good luck

If I thought my chicken had something in her throat, I would stick my pinky down there and see if their is. Or feel their neck for a lump. If she has crop stasis, I would remove her food at night and see if her crop is empty in the morning. If not, you need to "knead" her crop several times a day and give her only a bit of oil, and a bit of really soft food like applesauce, bits of bread soaked in olive oil, and stuff like that, and her water. Keep massaging her crop. Maybe don't feed her the first day, just water. Mine took 5 days to get normal.
