I *just* noticed one of my 4 week old Easter Egger chicks is a cross beak. I've seen things here and there that they can live long lives with a little beak trimming and special bowls, etc... I do plan to research into this condition very thoroughly. But was wondering if any one had any advice for anything that I could do at this young age to maybe help it not get too be too bad of a cross beak. Should I start trimming now?

She eats/drinks just fine. When I first got her at age 1-3 days old, she got really weak and I thought she was going to die so I gave her PolyViSol infant vitamins {no iron} for a couple of days and she perked right up and has done great since. I included some pics we just took of her.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

I had a chick who developed a cross beak like that at age 6 weeks. I was told that at that age it won't be as serious as if it developed earlier and that trimming her upper beak may help. I took a nail file to her beak and trimmed it just a little bit, and she's been fine ever since.

Here's our cross beaked Easter Egger, about 8 week old now-

She seems to be keeping up with the other chicks in weight, somehow- Does struggle to get down mealworms or other treats though.

We'll try trimming the "hook" and hope she can make it.
