Cross beak EE pullet chick

there is a post some where on the site about this and its awsome how these people with chick disablitys instead of putting them down these people have saved the chicken and there having a happy life i think its under disease and injurtys i swill see if i can find it i think it will help you

I had a EE/Orpington mix that had crossbeak. It started out very mild and as she grew it got worse. When she was about 9 weeks she was just unable to keep herself full and looked miserable. We ended up culling her. My only regret is not doing it sooner. She was so skinny and pathetic looking. I didn't realize how small she was until we culled her because her feathers made her look bigger than she was. Just make sure you keep an eye on yours. As long as she can keep herself full I imagine she'll be fine. Good luck with her. :)

so sad i cant find the link i was talking about it has so much knowldge in it. I know they gave instructions on tube feeding the chickens and triming the beak so take theres to the vet to have trimed up and how to make food where they can eat it ext it was so good i am gong to keep trying to find it but it was on this site

I culled her today. I know many will not agree with my choice but she could't eat anything on her own. the corner of her mouth nearly touched her eye socket. She was suffering and thin. I had trimed her beak it didn't help. It was my responsibility to protect her from suffering and that is what I did.

It's hard when doing the right thing feels so bad, but you did the right thing.

I missed this before. I think you did the right thing. I'm sorry you had to make such a hard decision. Culling is never fun. I have had to have 2 babies culled since Saturday. :( It gets less heart breaking every time, but it's still sad. I hope the rest of you babies thrive and lay you lots of eggs every day!
