Update: was caked on feed that looked unlike food first two times 😂
We have a 2.5week EE? With cross beak that started a few days ago. Been reading the older posts and got tips for trimming slightly overgrown upper beak. What we've noticed that I can't find on here is a small growth on the inside of her mouth attached to the lower beak near the edge. (Little tough to see in pictures) Sort of a long strip of keratin maybe?

Little over 6 weeks now. Unfortunately, she is about half the size of the other birds and is still having issues eating normally. We're having to make her food pretty wet with pumpkin or water for her to eat, and can still only get some after working at it a while. Was hoping she'd change the way she feeds, but still has issues working around it. It's also pretty cold where I live and she's hanging the rest up from going out full time in the coop so in a conundrum how long to keep them all inside since I'd imagine shell be much more cold sensitive.

I have never had a crossbeak chick, but most of what I have read is to feed them a moist mash of chicken feed, and use a little water or plain yogurt, and occasionally add some chopped egg. Many do not get enough to eat if it is severe, but some chickens live fairly normal lives. Occasional trimming and filing the beak may help to shape it better to make it close. Here is some reading about crossbeak chickens:
