I have a Russian Orloff almost 4 months old. He has had no problems health wise up to this point. Kept on pine shaving, free range during the day, hangs mainly with his 3 buddies but is part of a larger flock. Eating mainly layer mash with no calcium added and some scratch and squash, garden goodies for treats. Two days ago I noticed he kept his beak open like he was panting when I saw him. Wondered about it but nothing more. Yesterday I noticed it again because he had feed coating his beak and mouth. So I checked his mouth and noticed he had feed packed around his bottom beak in the inside. I cleaned him out some and noticed what looks like a sore under his tongue. Encouraged him to drink some water. Today his beak is totally misaligned. The bottom protrudes some and it is off to the side a bit. Can a cross beak develop that quickly or should I be inspecting him closer for an injury?
