A friend of mine has a 10 day old EE. It has a cross-beak. At first you couldn't even tell but now the upper part of the beak curves left, it eats and drinks well but she is afraid it is suffering. Is there any way to correct it? Thanks in advance.

In my experience the only thing that can be done with a crossed beaked chick is in their maintenance. In other words the condition can not be corrected. Providing deep dishes of feed for ease in eating and occasional trimming of the beak help, but such chicks frequently have other genetic problems. Good luck.

I have a full grown black australorp with a crossed beak - although it's not extreme. I do nothing special and she is the LARGEST of all my girls - she's humongo compared to my other BAs! Just keep an eye on her and make sure she's making growth progress.
