These chicks are two days old they just hatched on the 19th and the 20th and there is more on the way I will post a photo of what they are mixed with has well
Hey! Good thread, cross breeds are great. Here are a few of mine.
Here is Raphael's story: I did not cross him because I got him for free, but he is one of the greatest roosters I have owned... A bit skittish, but I rather timid than nasty. He's a Delaware/Dorking. Surprised he was free because you don't come across many Dorkings in Maine or a cross breed as him.
Then there is Raphael's son, Magnum... Magnum is a special rooster. Since he hatched, there's been something about him that I really liked. He can get a bit rough with the "ladies," but NEVER once attempted to hurt me or anybody. Not nasty to the hens, just that he's still learning and not even fully matured yet. My Dad thinks different of him though since I put Magnum's egg under a hen without telling him until it was developed... And he cannot really form a liking to him... SO he's okay with him being my rooster.
He is a Buff Brahma/Delaware/Dorking. Looks a lot like a Light Brahma, but actually has quite a few differences. (First and second photos are of him now and the others are younger).
Then Ferocious is Magnum's half sister. (From Raphael but probably from a different Brahma hen). Ferocious is the same cross as Magnum. [Doesn't she look laced?]
Then Gabby, the Delaware/Dorking/New Hampshire red that follows after Raphael with her skittish tendency and can be quite snappy. Note that she may look innocent in this photo... But she's just disguising!! I swear that I am not crazy!
And there you go... My cross breed collection. I love the crosses everyone has shared already, they are very unique patterns that really are nice lookin' birds.
