Cross breeding New hampshires with Sussex light with Rhode island whites

Update ... been a busy bee today ... made 2 coops ..one for each encampment ... chickens going off grid log cabin style ... not quite done yet but the carcass is done ...

update ....3rd batch standing on 34 for end of day 21 .... broken my 50 percent mark ...and there's still a couple of days left before the finishing gun ... hopefully get another 6 ! Brooder getting full now and they eating like crazy ... 500g for 29 chicks ...thats like 17g per bird per day ...i keep checking and when its empty ...i make more and fill up ..

Already got about 40 of them sold ...i advertised in gumtree .... they should be picked up tomorrow ... these are not the keepers ...after i get the encampments set up ...i'll keep those chicks ... just getting to know my bator for now!

last tally for day 22 .... 43 out of 66 .... that's up to 65 percent hatch rate ... getting better and better .... next batch up soon in another 6 days .... these eggs were fresh ...i stored them correctly before putting them into the bator and been turning them more often ... 43 is the number to beat ! Not bad for something i whipped together !

Updated .... actually 44 hatched but by the looks of things one got trampled over night ... he/she was pancaked !!! .. so ended up with 43 survivors ...of which i sold 25 this morning for 400 bucks ...took that money and went to buy 5 Rhode island red chicks and another 5 Sussex light chicks .. Rhode islands there to strenghten my New Hampshires blood line ( as explained on the first page of thi ss thread) and the sussex for the sex links !!! All in all ... got what i wanted and still have 250 bucks to show for it .... now to go buy some beer after all that !!
