Cross breeding???

If i were to start off by buying some Brahma and some Wyandotte chickens and a male from each, would they cross-breed? If so, would the resulting chickens be fertile?

Yeah, why not?
It's cross breeding, like a lab mating with a collie, the puppies are mutts and still fertile. Cross bred animals are fertile, but true hybrids animals breeding outside their class results in infertility.

Yes, the crossing of any breed of chicken will produce fertile offspring. Chickens are all the same "Species," just have different breed types.

If you want to keep the breeds separate you'll need to keep the flocks separate. Otherwise the dominant rooster will mate with all the hens and try to keep the subordinate rooster from mating.

Two roosters are tricky. Perhaps I am wrong, but I am inferring that you do not have a lot of experience. I would wait to add a cockerel until the pullets are laying. Cockerels and roosters can become quite aggressive. One really should not hatch pullet eggs, the chance of chicks is much less.

My advice - is this more of a long term hobby, work into it over a couple of years. Just have hens the first year, add a rooster, then hatch out chicks, then become proficient with processing birds...
