I hope this isn't too stupid of a question but I am very new to chickens.

I already have 8 TSC sex link girls that are doing very well and quite enjoyable. Today I picked up 10 new chicks. 5 are Silver Sebrights and 5 are white leghorns. They are straight run chickens and my hope is to use them to build up a bigger flock. The SS are just so adorably cute that I had to have some. The WL are going to primarily be meat and egg birds. If I allow them to mix in the coup and run will they cross breed? I don't think that a SS would be very capable with a WL hen but I could see a WL roo being successful with a SS hen.

So are they likely to cross breed and if so should I keep them separated? I don't really want to have cross breeds of the SS birds.

Thanks all for any advice.

Our OEGB roos and our Serama roo try to mate with our Black Sex Link girls all the time. And they are patient enough for them to slide backwards down their backs and they do make contact before falling off. The big roos don't mess much with the bantam hens.
So yes they could cross breed but as long as you keep the eggs picked up and refrigerated then you should not have to worry about having their chicks.
