Cross your fingers! :) I have piping

Well the first one was out, but dead. He looks like he didn't absorb his yolk sack and bled quite a bit.

But on a good note I have another one that has his head almost all the way out

I yelled at him through the 'bator window to take it slow and stay alive lol. I have to leave for work so I'm hoping for a live baby when I get home.

The temp and humidity are holding steady, so it's all up to them.

I wait for beast the wonderdog to try to tip over the incubator. He hears them pipping and goes nuts. He's thinking about his favorite treats... mcnuggets

Well second one hatched and it died.

I don't know what's going on. They seem so little and their eyes aren't even open, the yolk was absorbed in this last one. They both just hatched and would just lay there and breath until they died. I expected them to come out running.

any advice? I still have 6 to go.

awh darn I wish I had some helpful info for you

I think that some chicks are just over-eager to hatch and in doing so come out too early.

I've had it happen in a RIR chick before it came out and was perfect even fluffed up...but it had almost half of it's yolk sac still out and died later on in the day after the yolk dried up

Thanks Monarch,

The other 6 are not even wiggeling yet so maybe their is hope that they will take things slower.

wow that's early lol I bet he was developing before you got him in the incubator. I sometimes get early chickens and ducks because I wait till there is a bunch of eggs then steal all them at the same time to incubate.

I hope the rest hatch as easy as he did for you.

well 2 more piped last night. both died without getting out of the shell.

Do you think that with all the parents had been through before I got them, that it's affecting these babies someway? They are fully developed on the outside, very small and their eyes still have that little skin over them. They don't peep as they are piping and they seem to lay and breath alot. Not like they are gasping for breath, but like they have run a long time. they seem to pip easy, so I don't think the shell is to tough. It's like they are all premature and I just can't help them

I really wanted to have a good hatch before I got eggs from Monarch. I'm afraid I'm doing something wrong. Temp and humidity are good(I've checked with 3 different thermoneters)

oh well...*sigh* 4 more to go.
