Crossbeak Ameraucana

This is really helpful, thank you very much for taking the time to mark up the photos. I've spent a lot of time looking at her beak and I have a good idea of what I can safely do for a first round. I can always use a file to go further. I agree 100% that it's better to have a good experience for us both and leave a bit on than go too far! I've been trimming GSD's nails for years so I also have a good grasp of how to see the quick. (also this picture is a little out of date. Her beak longer today than in the photo! I'm excited to see if she enjoys having a trimmed beak - hopefully make like a little easier for her :).

Forget trying to trim! She is a proper size and looks healthy. If it ain’t broke….. my black Americauna is just as severe and she is fine— but I do give moistened crumbles with mashed banana and “powdered” meal worms, yogurt and anything else that she can eat more easily. I also clean her beak every so often—- she can get food or even dirt in the lower groove and you don’t want that sitting for long. I use a tooth pick which works super well. Good luck and keep in touch esp. if you learn anything else helpful with these CB cuties.
