When I was in college, many years ago, we used to pheasant hunt a corn farm in the Texas panhandle. We usually would go by the farmers house and drop off a dressed bird are two and sit out back with the farmer and have a beer. I was amazed one evening to see a wild pheasant rooster come running out of the corn and rape a brown leghorn hen. The farmer told us it happened all the time. I asked him to save me some eggs to see if they would hatch. They did and were beautiful birds but none of their eggs would hatch so I guess it created a mule.
