Hey lovlies! I'm curious what I should look for in my chicks when crossing a barnevelder over a cuckoo maran. I have one cuckoo in my flock and I cant tell her eggs apart from my barnevelders. (She's my son's chicken) Are the cuckoos crossed chicks sexlinked? What should I look for when they hatch? I have eggs in the incubator.

They would be sexlinked. The males would be barred (having a white spot on the head at hatch.)
The females would be unbarred (no white spot.)
Since black is fairly dominant you wouldn't get much color other than maybe some yellowish leakage on the males and red leakage on the females.
