I have two Nigerian/Saanen Does that are only slightly smaller than my Boer Does. I am curious about crossing the Dairy Does with a Boer Buck. A "milk the doe, eat the kid approach". We crossed a Boer Doe with a Nigerian/Saanen Buck last year and the kids are growing just as fast as their full Boer peers. So I know the mix makes a meaty goat, I am just concerned with size difference using the slightly smaller does.
My dairy does are pets though so if it is risky I'll not do it.
They kidded unassisted. The yearling was bred to a full Nigerian, because she was on the young side and so we went with a smaller buck. I swear the second baby fell out.
Any ideas or input? I've read other threads but they were full Nigerian does, and that half Saanen makes a good size difference.
