Crossing a "Golden Comet" hen with e a RIR roo?

Anyone ever hatched any offspring from a Golden Comet (Sex Link) hen and Rhode Island Red rooster? I know the chicks wont be sex links but wonder if they will maintain the qualities of the sex links otherwise.

Worth the effort or should I just buy more GC's?

Id give it a try, why not? You should get some very nice egg layers.

That would produce a production type red. I think the decrease in production would be insignificant. The RIR, itself a production strain no doubt, over what is a hybrid of production strain Red over a production White bird. They'd be very nice indeed.
