I agree, I have also heard that White Leghorns do not have the silver gene and that they are dominant white.
If you cross a Big red roo onto a Dominant Wht. female as in Wt. Leghorns the result will be all white offspring with maybe some red or black ticking( freckles or spots) here and there in both sexes, and the hens will lay a tinted/beige colored egg.
You can't get what is called a production red from this F1 cross or a production type red sex-link either.
Look at the sticky at the top of the page tadkerson explains this thoroughly and there's not a mention of White Leghorn in the breeds listed.
Production Reds and Red Sex-links lay Brown eggs if they had Leghorn in them they would not lay brown eggs and would have some noticeable white in the earlobes. Anyway this a way deep topic.
