I have a beautiful very dark RIR hen with excellent color that I would love to see in my BLRWs. My black BLRW roo has decent red I think (though with a slight orange tint) and my splashes have very light, coppery color and their hackles are more golden than my GLW roos. I'm considering breeding her to my black BLRW and breeding the offspring to my splash roos to try and improve their color but I'm concerned that the single comb gene may end up being more trouble than it's worth. Has anyone had any experience with this? Are there any other possible pitfalls from this potential crossing?
