OK, so I am not here to debate Ameraucana/Easter Egger. I understand that crossing varieties that have different genetics (e.g., crossing a blue Ameraucana to a wheaten ameraucana) will not produce a bird to breed standard.
My question is if I had a true-to-standard blue Wheaten or a Wheaten rooster over true-to-standard black and blue Ameraucana hens, what would the resulting chicks look like?
Has anyone done this experiment and have any feedback?
I ask because I currently have some mature black and blue Ameraucanas, and some wheaten/blue wheaten chicks. I am partial to the W/BW, but I have a soft spot for my other ladies. At this point, I would want to keep the W/BW for breeding but given the egg coloring, I am worried this would be an issue short of just setting up a separate breeding pen or at least trapping so I know who my egg came from.
Also, my curiosity just got the best of me
