Hi people
I'm wanting to hatch some Rhode Island Reds. I have two hens (one of which looks a little mottled so not too sure) and a cockerel. I also have 6 Bovan Goldlines which I have read are crossed with a Light Sussex/Rhode Island Red. I have split the cock and the best looking RIR hen from the rest so that I can only collect her eggs to incubate. My question is.... could I incubate the Bovans eggs fertilised by the RIR and what would the result be? Would it be one cross too many/would I need a bovans cock. Sorry but I've only kept hens a couple of years so am pretty much a novice and there's only so much info you can get off the internet. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Welcome to BYC
You can hatch any of the eggs you wish. The chicks from the bovan eggs will simply be mixed breed chicks (sometimes called barnyard mix). Bovan Goldline is simply another name under which red sex links are marketed - the sex linkage will not carry over to the next generation regardless of what breed rooster you put over the hens (even crossing a bovan roo over your bovan hens will simply yield mixed breed chicks)
