Crouching Chicken?

I have a silkie hen who does the same thing... When you put your hands over her or around her, she crouches and picks her wings up to balance...

She thinks she's being bred.... probably the same thing yours is doing.

Does she crouch down and kinda put her wings out a little? That would be the stance for the rooster approaching. She is thinking you are the roo. Mine do that sometimes when I go to pick them up.

When they start squatting like that it wont be too many more weeks before you get some eggs!!

And yes, they think you are the rooster. Give 'em a good back rub and they'll appreciate it. lol

She usually gets picked and petted and loves it. Now I know why! Well at least SHE knows who's boss around here! LOL Thanks for the info I can't wait to see her lay again and possibly have her own children. We have a much younger man for her if she wants.
