My little guy was crowing this morning after I got up, he heard me and the dog up and he started crowing to alert the crew lol Sounded hilarious. My wife even got up wondering what the sound was. Sounded like the cat dragged something in and it was dying. Wife thought something got in the house, didnt know what sound was lol How normal is this for a 5 week old chick to start crowing? Will he stop soon and then continue once he grows up? I think its funny but I really dont want him to continue crowing everyday yet

LoL ... sounds like fun in your house!

I was watching my 1 week old babies and one that I was already "guessing" is a Roo ... I swear ... it looked like he was "trying" to crow! I think I'm gonna have to watch out for that one!

I have an olive egger that just started crowing this week. He is only 5 weeks old too. Hilarious to listen to now, but he is going to a less urban farm if he gets louder or more consistent!

He didnt do it this morning, but he sure sounded hilarious yesterday lol I am in the process of moving, and yesterday evening I moved them to the new house, so maybe he doesnt know where he is yet and didnt crow. I really dont want him crowing yet since he is still inside for a little bit longer. He is the nicest of the 16 chicks I have in brooders, him and a pullet EE are 5 weeks old, 2 jersey giants I think 1 male 1 female are 3 weeks old, 6 pullet red sex links, 3 EE from my red sex link hen and ameracauna roo, 1 EE(unknown sex) from tractor supply from when I got the red sex link pullets just because it was the darkest/fattest, with a HUGE beard and muffs, 1 auburn java(my smallest chick, unknown sex), 1 blue laced red wyandotte(unknown sex). All the chicks listed from the red sex links on down are all like a week and a half-2 weeks old.

Our olive egger roo was 6 weeks when he started crowing (just like his dad), but the strange noise that eminated from his throat only lasted about 2 weeks. He is now about 4 months old and is starting to crow again but sounds like a real roo.
