Can he see a light? I've had roosters crow if they could see light from my window, or headlights from a passing vehicle, but they always hush and go to sleep when it gets dark.
are there predators prowling? mine started that and was some predator, I put a motion detected solar powered light near their pen and the crowing stopped after second night, now if I could jsut get him to wait until 6 am at least instead of 4 3o am-5 am lol

Send him to freezer camp? All my roosters from this spring’s hatch have been dead silent since I sent them there. I never thought it would work so quick, but they were quiet even before they made it all the way to the freezer! ( I’m sorry, I HAD to. The devil made me do it.)
They can see the tiniest speck of light, and will crow ... It's a Roo. When I had a Roo, one of the neighbors a street behind us came home from work at 1am ... We all were notified. Living in a residential area, as much as he was such a docile Roo, we had to rehome him much to my daughter's dismay.
That's the ONLY issue with Roos, crowing Just read a thread on "caponizing", just wish I could bring myself to learn/do it. Hurts just reading how to
