My Black Giant cockerel finally started crowing. He has the true "cock- a- doo- dle- doooo" sound while all of my other cockerels and cocks of various breeds (EE and true araucana) have a four syllable crow (more like "er - er- er- errrrr).

I am sure the black gaint will refine a bit as he gets older, he so far has a very deep voice. Quite honestly, he sounds pretty awesome now but does not crow as much as the older boys.

Is the syllable/sound a genetic trait or is it linked to certain breeds?

Well, I would think it would be linked through certain breeds genetically?

I mean...take the Longcrower breeds as an example. It MUST be passed down genetically...otherwise we really wouldn't have long-crowers?

i wish i had 20 of em hehe
