I am totally astonished ... just caught this one crowing:

It is a 5 week old Pharaoh Quail. The coloring is so female, but I saw her/him definately crowing, 2 times in a row.
Never had something like this before.

Any similar reportings?

I see some red coming in on the chest. Sometimes males start off with spotted chests and lose them later.

Yeah, but it is more cream, than rusty.

I had this before, that they were spotted, and then the spot were vanishing from the middle out replaced by the characteristic rusty male chest. ... But not at this age. These were more 2 - 3 weeks.
Maybe a new expierience... still really astonished.

I checked the vent, but it is too early. Nothing to really tell the gender.

This one looks a bit more like a falb fee than pharoah, but I wasn't sure if the red was just washed out in your picture. Falb fee roos have cream or white chests instead of red.

I recently had a male hiding in females clothing. Mines a snowie, so the chest is white with gray speckles. It’s big and fat, has a speckled chest, and at somewhere between 5-7 weeks I was changing the chips in the cage and it started crowing it’s head off. Sometimes nature gives us a surprise.

Your bird looks like my hen Rambo. The head color seems weird for a rooster. My roosters all had red heads and a red chest at 5 week old. I guess only time will tell...
