Blue Orpington cockerel. He has male-specific pointed feathering on his shoulders and saddle.

He has saddle feathers are coming in, along with the 2-toned blue coloration. Poor guy, being dumped in the woods.

I have a hen doing similar, the first for me. Oldish American Dominique hen is five years old has not produced any eggs since last June. After she gave up on a clutch last summer, she adopted some chicks even though she was past broody. Decidedly rooster behavior on that.

I was trying to get one last batch of hatching eggs from her. Another crapper deal.
