My two year old "alpha" hen, a black Australorp, has begun to try to crow. Just in the last couple of days. She sounds like a rooster with laryngitis; it is really quite funny. What is up with this? [IMG] BTW, I am absolutely, positively certain that she is a hen. Anyone else have a crowing hen?

I don't have a rooster and sometimes my alpha hen let's off a sound like a Crow. I know she's a hen she gives me eggs. but some mornings she too will do a slight crow. I'm glad its slight! I can't have roosters where i live. sometimes they take on a rooster type behavior if no male is present. You you do have males present not sure why she would do this?
