crowing of rooster

My my he's beautiful! And he looks like my roo too!

Please check if his tail is down. That is often a sign of problems in a chicken. Also, when you say he isn't crowing, do you mean that he isn't crowing in early morning? Or not crowing at all?

Are you sure he is just mating when your not there? He could actually be a hen. Post a picture and we can help you identify it.

Hmm tail downward means there is something wrong or he's depressed.
Okay please check the following things for him and share with us. We are basically going to check if your rooster has any abnormalities by all these tests:

1. Check the pads of his feet for any infection. It's called bumblefoot.
2. Feel around his chest, neck areas to see if there are any odd lumps or anything.
3. Share with us his diet and what kind of a flock you have. Like are there any other roosters?
4. Listen to his breathing. Also, is he sneezing or coughing?

Also, please let him sit on your lap and give him lots of loving. Maybe he's sad. Sometimes, when I leave my rooster for a prolonged period of time, his tail goes down and I have to then give him lots of comfort and let him sleep on my lap.

what is the solution

He might just be too young--some chickens grow more slowly than others. Some roosters wait until 8 months or even older to crow, while some others start before 2 months.

It might be a seasonal thing--some hens only lay eggs in the spring & summer. Maybe he's waiting for spring. (Unless you live a place where it is already spring.)

The solution is probably to wait.
(Of course, make sure he is healthy, with a safe place to live and appropriate food. But I'm guessing you already thought of those.)
