do you think roosters crow because they're happy? My Tyson crows all the time and I like to think it's because he's happy with his life

I'm pretty sure it just has to do with the rooster--breed, age, position in the flock, personality, etc. Barred Rocks crow a lot, I've heard, and from personal experience, I know that so do OEG and Cochin bantams. Game birds like to yell, too. What sort of roo do you have?

I think they get so full of themselves they have to release the pressure somehow or they'd explode.

Roosters only crow to warn away competing roosters and to keep their girl friends advised on the rooster's location and maybe coax a hen or two away from a competing roo.

Well we have only one rooster, he's a black sex link, and he crows allllll the time. And I like to think he's telling me he's happy as a clam with his life and 5 girl friends . He's a good boy, I have gotten him to eat out of my hands and everything
