Crud! I forgot when.

Bobwhites:
I forgot when to remove eggs from incubator rails and place on bottom. Think I am at day 17 and remember to increase humidity at day 20 and expect hatch around day 23. But my brain ask, do I take off rails at 20 or wait til peeping before lowering. Been running 45 to 55% humidity but can’t seem to remember when to take off rails. Yes this is my first hatch.

Don't remember incubator your using.

If they hold egg upright stop them in a verticle posiion use them to hatch.

If you want to remove them do it when you raise humidity on day 20.

Is there a preference as to hatch in vertical upright position while in rails or remove and lay down.

I figure like this they incubated vertical I try to hatch them vertical.

Plus in my experience I seemed to get better hatching upright over laying down. But I'm also not a fan of chicky soccer and upright eliminates most of that.

But it's what makes you feel the best. Try a couple batches laying down try a couple upright see if there is much difference.

Thanks! 36 this batch, friend doing 30 more for me and 54 started in a 56 egg auto turner from amazon that had to replace lid when heating element stopped Last week. Plenty to test. Thanks again.

I usually leave mine in the trays, too. I seem to get better hatches. Only thing you want to watch out for is the little boogers want to get under or on the side of the turner motor! I loss a couple until I blocked it off so they couldn't get near it. Literally cooked them.
