I called the feed store to see if they had any chick starter. 1 bag, had them hold it. Dh went to pick it up and they just put it in the car. When he got home I noticed it is medicated poultry feed, crumbles(I think, like little pebbles). I opened it and fed it to our 13 week olds, but now I have nothing for the 1 week olds and ran out of food last night. Is there a way to either wet it or maybe crush it to feed it to them until I can get some starter?

Chick starter CAN BE crumbles & medicated. And is fine for 1 week old chicks. Read the label - what does it exactly say?

How many chickens do you have that you fed the entire bag to the older birds and none to the new chicks?

I still have the crumbles, I was just saying I didn't have the mash to feed the chicks

I always just fed mash, the crumbles just looked too big to give the chicks, but I will give it a try

It says medicated chick starter - crumbles

I just fed them all and I do feel silly

. I never questioned their feed, just fed what the feed store told me to

. It seems to be less waste too, which is very good

That's exactly what you want them to have. By the way, once they get ready for big girl food (layer) you might try the layer pellets. Much less waste.

Don't you love an easy problem?

We don't feed any of our flock pellets - they just throw it on the ground and waste the feed. So every one from chicklettes to adults get crumbles here.

Mash is good, but you should mix it with a liquid to make a crumbles like feed.

the bantys are 2 weeks old, is that ok? the ones that are hatching (
