Just found one of my 2 day old chicks that was fine a few hours ago dead. It looks like it was crushed. The brooder is huge and there are only a few chicks in it so I know it is not from over crowding... I am thinking it was squished by my gimpy chick that I have been keeping with them. The older chick has splaid leg (sp?) and although I probably should have I have not culled it. I am thinking to seperate them but would prefer to not have to it is clear that gimpy likes the company and the chicks her age pick on her. Gimpy is maybe double or tripple the size of the day olds though.... Do you think that this was an isolated incident or should I seperate gimpy from my day olds so that they dont meet the same fate?
