We had 5 chicks from one store, and 4 from another. The 5 chicks have all died except one. After the first 2 of the 5 died, I isolated the remaining 3 away from the other 4 chicks. 2 more died 1 and 2 days later. All starting the same way. They started isolating themselves, then they stopped eating and drinking, became weak and wobbly, then died. Not sure what they have, but the fact that it was one chick after another and a dead chick a day made it seem like something viral or bacterial. Temperatures are fine, they had electrolytes and probiotics, no pasty butt. The last of the 5 chicks is alone. How long should I isolate her before returning her to the other 4 chicks? The other 4 chicks are thriving.

How old are they all now? I would put the single chick with the others. Are any having runny droppings or standing puffed up or hunched? Are they all eating? If they died early, I would suspect they had shipping stress. Too long in shipping or getting chilled or handled roughly may be causes. Sometimes there are just weak hatches. But usually those with shipping stress may have pasty butt. Coccidiosis is a common cause of death after 2-3 weeks old. Just for safety, I would probably give a round of Corid, from your feed store, and make sure they are drinking well. Dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water for 5-7 days. If you lose any others, you can get a necropsy through your state vet lab. Sorry for your loss.

They are all about 1.5 weeks. We just lost the 4th one today. And the 5th one was with her the entire time. Not showing any signs of stress. It's just weird that 2 died the day after bringing them home (Day2). The 3rd started showing symptoms the day after on day 3 and died on day 4. And the 4th one started showing symptoms on day 3 as well amd died on day 5. Today is day 5 of them being here. If they were sick, I dont know if the 5th chick is sick too? I noticed white poop on some of the chick fluff on the 3rd chick that died. But nothing on the rest, and the vent area was clean on it.
