I need some advice/help.
I adopted a Brahma rooster from a woman in the community 3 days ago and he went from a lively, normal rooster that I observed in her yard to a shut down and alarmingly lethargic bird after the first night.
The first night he mated with the other Brahma hens, got on the roost and slept appearning to be normal. The next day he became still, stood in one spot and his head drooped down and he rarely picked it up.
He remained that way all day and did not roost.
Yesterday I went in and isolated him. He is now in a small cage away from the other birds. When I went to get him, he became active and evaded me. But if he stood still he would start to close his eyes. I did catch him and isolated him. I syringe fed him some Purina Electrolytes. I also gave him some Poultry Boost. I left him over night. I observed him drinking water last night.
I just got home from work and checked on him. He appears to have eaten a small amount...maybe.... and he is still head down droopy with eyes closed.
What could be going on? I googled some things and pulled up:Wry Neck ?
I heard to get selenium?
what i've done so far is:
* Electrolytes
* Poultry Boost
What would cause this to onset LITERALLY overnight? Will he die? Thanks
