Crushed egg shells

Hi. I am planning on feeding crushed eggshells to my layers. I am wondering how small the pieces have to be so they do not confuse these with their own eggs

I crush them up fairly fine; a grain of rice.

I let shells dry a day or two depending on humidity, then crush with fingers. GC

Many put into a container by itself, or mix with Oyster Shells and some toss on the ground. GC

I just crush it a few times in a food processor... Or just crunch it in my hand. If the pieces are big, the birds will just rip it up themselves no problem

I just smash them up, if they aren't completely crushed up my ladies take care of it, lol. I put them, oyster shell, and grit in the little red containers you see in my coop

Thank you. Is there any rule of thumb about the ratio of crushed egg shells vs oyster shells or even feed type lime?

No ratio for the oyster/egg, it's basically just free recycled calcium feed type lime? I don't understand that part of the question
