Crushed Straw

It seems odd that the brand specifications lists all types of animals including chickens. Yet, at the bottom says "not intended to be fed". But you can't stop your animals from trying to eat it

I thought that was weird too. I originally took it to mean that it shouldn't be intentionally fed to them. I never imagined that they would actually try to eat it.

I'm disappointed though because it was the perfect size, super soft, clean, and not too expensive!

I saw that stuff there the other day....it's meant to be bedding, so labeled not to be fed
It is odd that they'd eat it, but they do eat odd things sometimes...I've seen them eating wood from the old logs in the run.
I don't know if it would really hurt them to eat some of it....but you'd have to make the call on that.

Go easy on the scratch, just as a treat.

We use timothy hay in the nest boxes. I buy it at Meijer in the pet dept, it's packaged for small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs so it's cut small and fits perfect in the nest boxes. It has works very well for us.
