I rescued 5 birds from a cramped space.

Two of the ladies have crusty butts.
I thought they would clean themselves of this crusts.
But, they havent.
I'm wondering if there isnt something wrong with them.

None of my other chickens have crust butt.
NONE

HELP?

If they were in poor conditions, they may just be too exhausted and worn down to clean themselves. Give them a helping hand and remove the crustiness with some baby wipes, they will probably feel better and begin grooming themselves a bit better

Crusty butt? Is this Pastey butt? My birds last Feb. Got this after I fed them white rice out of the fridge. everyone told me it's good for them and they loved it but I had to clean 5 pasty butts and put PH on them because they got so constipated their butts looked like they were pushing out.

My roo and hen like to sleep on a shelf lined with wood shavings (they opt to use the perch only to get to the shelf!). As a result, Annie gets a bit of dried mess accumulating after a while. Since she would not relish a bath I take scissors and trim the feathers a bit to get that stuff off - I have to hold her carefully so she doesn't flinch and get cut! But it does the trick.

well...folks....:|

we tried the soak and soap
which someone was not a happy camper:/

These things didnt even soften up after 15 minutes of soak time.
Thank for the clipping idea

I think thats the way to go
cut the darn things off

so gross

I was just thinking that she could be sick
and
I dont want the other ladies to get sick.

I have noticed when a chicken has m ites or lice they are too busy scratching/feeling bad to clean up properly- so check for parasites too.
