Hi! Ever since I’ve had Princess the Polish she’s always had eye issues in one eye. I’ve tried cutting the feathers way back on this particular side of her crest. I’ve also washed with soapy warm water to remove the build up, but I don’t know what it is and why it happens. It almost seems as though the skin hangs heavy over this eye. Anyone know what is happening here?photos of her right eye which is normal and then her messy left eye.

Looks like she has an eye infection.
Is vet care an option?

How long have you had her?
Any bad odor?
I would flush the eye with saline, press on the tissue to see if there's any pus that needs to be removed. Put an eye ointment in the eye like Terramycin.
Do check her for lice/mites as well.

You may need to trim those feathers around the face to help keep her cleaner.

I’ve had her over 2 years. When I worked on cleaning it today, with warm compresses I did notice it was a bit smelly.
She’s had lice/mites once before, but she’s been clean of that for a long time now. This eye issue has been a problem for some time now. I am thinking of taking her to a vet.

If vet care is an option, that would be good.

Having an odor, there's infection and likely it needs to be cleaned out, chicken pus does not dry up on it's own. Daily flushing and ointment along with an oral antibiotic may be needed to clear it up.

The clumps on her feathers, unless that's a lot of dirt buildup, looks like lice/mite debris.
