Crusty head (as a result of a respiratory infection)

Hi everyone, two of my silkies had a respiratory infection which they have since recovered from so they're healthy in all other respects - drinking, eating, "beautiful" poops, chatting and chirping, etc - except for the crusty things on their heads that are also covering their eyes .

I've tried (unsuccessfully) saline solution as well as soaking cotton wool discs in warm water and holding it to their heads to try soften it.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

My research led me to choose culling them. Not an easy decision but I don't want to risk loosing anymore birds.

Sorry about your birds, but culling can be a good way of controlling spread of infectious respiratory diseases.
