Good morning all, one of my girls started crying and sort of sneezing this morning, plus noticing some runny/sticking to her poops.

Abrupt behavior change, hiding in bushes away from the flock.

No noticeable discharge or swelling.

Looking for advice. Thanks to all. I took a video and will try to share here.

Pic 2: mid cry
Pic 1: mid hack/loud cry (not quite a sneeze or a cough)

She’s currently hiding in a bush looking like she’s searching for a spot to die.

I can’t see or hear a video, but is she gasping for air or having any stidor? Videos can be uploaded to YouTube or similar. Stridor is a loud sound made when they get a small piece of feed stuck in their airway. It also can happen when they have a respiratory infection and mucus or swelling of the airway. It goes away in a few hours if it is stuff food, but if they sneeze a lot I would think that may be a respiratory infection or disease. Have you added any new birds in the past few weeks?

Uploaded! I looked in her mouth but didn’t look super far in. I’ll take a look

She is having stridor, and sneezing or coughing. How does her crop feel? Do you have granite poultry grit to help the gizzard grind food and grasses? Is she able to walk around normally and eat/drink while she is doing this? I would look into her throat for any mucus, yellow material, or something stuck.

Hey, thanks for looking. Crop felt normal albeit fairly empty (it’s early in the day?)

They have a large container of granite grit in their run and then any variety of stone/grit naturally around the yard. (We have dirt, stone, gravel path with dirt/ stone around. Lots of options. They range all day most days)

She looked like she was trying to eat in the short time I was observing. She seems to be in pain, stridor seems to make sense.

Massaged her crop some, mass inside seemed to be very firm/hard at first but then broke up some. I was super gentle and it seemed to loosen up. Gave her some water. She’s foraging some but still crying and squeaking. Poor thing.
