There is a gentleman in the town where my husband works that has contracted Cryoptococcal meningitis this. He worked at a hardware store and from what I understand did a lot of cleaning of bird droppings, mostly pigeon droppings.
Our concern is this something that can be contracted from Chickens?

AT is right. If you have a weekended immune system, especially HIV positive, they are the people most likely to contract it.

    A.T. Hagan :

This Wikipedia article will get you started: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptococcus_neoformans

    And here's another: http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/encephalitis_meningitis/detail_encephalitis_meningitis.htm

    And this one: http://www.projectinform.org/info/cryptom/index.shtml

You should be able to take it much further from there.

It's fairly uncommon if you are not immune challenged is my understanding.
