Cucko Maran or Plymouth Rock?

Any chance she's a mix of marans and BR? She's got the white legs of a Marans but her barring and color look more like a BR.

That egg is awfully dark for a Barred Rock. The one's my BR lays are very light, almost pinkish colored. If I went by the egg color, I'd say Cucko Marans.

Thanks for the responses. I am thinking she might be a mix. Her legs seem too white for a Barred Rock, but the eggs are pretty dark.

Are you sure that is her egg, isn't 17 week a little young?

Oops - missed that, yeah, especially if we are talking possible Marans. Mine is 28 weeks and still no eggs, and apparently I shouldn't be surprised if it still takes another month or more.

I'm not sure how old she is as I adopted her and I am guessing she is about the same size as the hens I raised as chicks. She is probably about 19-20 weeks now (the orginal post was from the beginning of the month), but could be older. Or it could be another hen. My Easter egger is laying pinkish white eggs, my White Brahma is laying the light brown and then the others are old Red Sex links. So it could be the Red Sex links or the Barred Rock/Maran (?!). Time will tell!

My son and I got to see the egg fall out of the Easter Egger today, that was a treat! We opened the egg nest door just at the wrong/right time.

She is the only one I am sure of in terms of whose egg is whose.
