Cuckoo Bluebar...

Pics
Hi All Here are photos of our six, hatched from eggs on the kitchen counter. Only 1 ended up being a roo. As mentioned previously, we've raised at least 8 to 10 batches of chicks of various breeds and these have been the strongest/healthiest. Can't wait to see what the eggs look like and whether or not they're really prolific layers of large blue eggs.
Any updated photos and progression reports?

Hi Folks,
So sorry for the delay - I take care of a 90-year old mom, who lives with us, plus I work and take care of mom's 5 rentals and our little farm.

Here are more photos of the pullets and the rooster, Blue Boy. I've included photos of his crooked toes. The girls will probably begin laying next month.

Disposition: The pullets are sweet, active and very curious. Mild personalities. Rooster is bad tempered and hysterical - everything is a problem for him. Probably the worst rooster I've ever had, personality wise. But he is beautiful and ding his job with

the ladies.

Thanks so much - they are lovely! (And no need to apologize - you just update when you have the chance - real life always comes first!!!!)

Thank you, Ant Farm. I will post photos of the first eggs when they arrive. But I do think March will be the month. The chicks hatched out @ Halloween. If I count 5 months out that should be @ end of March. They advertised them as being early & prolific layers.

I just read this entire thread, first post to last, literally at the edge of my seat and anxious for more updates! The suspense of seeing the eggs is going to kill me for the next few weeks now!

Hi Folks,
So the first egg was laid 2 nights ago - but the hen was laying on top of her coop roof and when I picked her up to put her in her house the egg fell out of her and smashed on the gang plank. There was green shell showing but I couldn't tell how big the egg was. It also looked like an embryo had been developing in it. I'm watching carefully and expecting (hoping) more will be laid this week. Five hens, so the odds are good. Will post photos when they do.

So the 2nd egg was laid this afternoon. It's a small green egg. Quite small. :)) But she is trying. I'll let you know how the size and color progress. These hens were born @ October 31st, so they are about 4 and 1/2 months old. Young, considering most don't lay till 5 and 1/2 months.

The girls are very bright and curious and very healthy.
