Cuckoo Maran- Dumb question alert

Sooo... kind of a dumb question, but is the cuckoo maran bred to be barred or is it crossed with another breed or what? Where does the barring originate from? I can't find anything online.
I am now the proud owner of two barred cockerels that hatched from Maran eggs. None of my hens are barred, but I did have a Barred Rock rooster that got into the pen a few times.
I think he just make quick work but it has stirred my curiosity as well so please humor me.

Cuckoo Marans are an actual breed that has the "cuckoo" pattern and will breed true when bred together. In your case, the barring pattern from your rooster carried over to all the offspring. You have a cross breed, not a Cuckoo Marans. Handsome little guys!

Thanks.. Will probably end up giving them away.. In rooster poor around here!!

what color are their legs? Cuckoo is kinds an uneven barring. Marans should have white legs. I am not sure what color the other breed has.
