But it does'nt bother me to have a lighter shade of eggs!

Idk if to put my eggs in the incubator yet the temp is ok but the humidity is to high I think 65! What do you think?

It really should bother you that the eggs that you got are too light. To be classified as a Marans, a hen has to lay a certain color of egg and those, other than maybe the one in the top right, are not nearly dark enough.

I set some eggs under a hen, yesterday, so can I join in? They aren't Marans though. They will be a barnyard mix. My 2 roos are EE's but I have assorted hens...Buff O's, RIR's, New Hampshire reds, White Orp's, EE's, Speckled Sussex, Partridge Rocks, Black Australorps. Can't wait to see what hatches. I also just ordered some eggs from JamesA in the auction section. I got Buckeyes, Barnevelders, Speckled Sussex and some BLRW! I definitely think that I have "the sickness"....I better go check in at "Hatchaholics" in the Yahoo email Groups

I set eggs today at 9:00am.

Hmmm.... let me think of what I put in there this time.

17 Cukoo Maran
7 FBM
5 EE
4 Red Cap
9 Brown Eggs from the Grocery Store (labeled free range)

My first bator hatch was TERRIBLE this year (1% hatched ).

First broody hatch ever this year was 100%.

I have since installed a pc fan in my Little Giant so hopefully that will make everything all better!

April 17th here we come.

Hey, Jut now set my eggs =]
I have 37 Purebred Seramas and one Blue Maran egg. Praying the Seramas hatch, if the Maran hatches, I will be happy but I wont need it lol.

Also have 42 eggs (Lavender Aracaunas, Delewares, EE's, Aracauna/ Blue cochin mix and a couple Seramas hatching out on the 1st of April

Also 8 Turkey eggs hatching on the 11th of april

The eggs that I bought from JamesA are for putting under the broody hens that I have BUT I should probably get some others to try out my 'new' incubator that I bought last year but never used. Do you vaccinate your chicks that hatch in the incubator? My hen hatched 3 chicks last summer and I didn't vaccinate them because I had read that they get some immunity from the broody hen. They will be a year old in June and so far--no Mareks.
